Thigh Lift - FAQ

What does a thigh lift do?

A thigh lift tightens the skin of the inner and outer thighs. It eliminates sagging and excess skin. The overall effect is firm, taut thighs.

Will a thigh lift help me lose weight?

No. Liposuction is the surgical process that removes fat. And, if the patient has thighs that need liposuction, a thigh lift is ineffective until the fat is eliminated. Due to patient safety issues, the doctors at Amin Plastic Surgery will not perform liposuction and a thigh lift on the same patient without an interim period of several months.

Who is a likely candidate for a thigh lift?

Anyone who has sagging, loose skin on his/her inner or outer thighs. The most common candidates are men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight. Women who have sagging thighs as the result of pregnancy and are not planning on having additional children are also good candidates for thigh lift procedures.

What is the thigh lift procedure like?

An incision is made in the natural crease near the groin. The thigh skin is then pulled until its firm and excess tissue is removed. The incision is then closed, and the resulting thigh appears years younger - smooth and wrinkle-free. Because of its placement, the incision scar is very hard to detect after recovery.

What is the thigh lift recovery process like?

As with most cosmetic procedures, you will be sore during recovery. Typical recovery time is about one to three weeks. Most patients take the first week off from work and other activities.
